I wonder what the story is with this car. The car is left hand drive yet was first registered in my home city of Carlisle, England and only a short distance down the road in Cockermouth is Malcolm Wilson's M-Sport rally company. You'll know some of his other cars (all registered 'PY' and 'PX' for Carlisle) such as:

Are you implying that no left hand drive cars exist in the UK?

But what if I don't know who I am anymore!?

What? Not at all.
Just that a car with one or two rally mods registered in my home city when a world rally manufacturer is just down the road is made a little more interesting in that it's left hand drive possibly meaning there was more than the one or two visual mods to the car rather than just a regular car from my city having mods.
ie that any car with mods is one thing (maybe the driver added some cosmetic touches, maybe more was done by the owner or maybe that it was done by a professional company) but it stands out that the car may have more than likely had professional work done on registration with it being LHD in an RHD country especially as we are not local to any ports to Europe where there may be some cross border commute to work where the owner had added a few things here and there.

The Volvos are used by M-Sport as reconnaissance vehicles. Scroll down the page to see them in action at the Monte Carlo in 2012.
And at the time Loeb was apparently using to an Evo :)

Thanks very much for that, it's appreciated (though the pictures were from earlier than 2012 as they were posted in 2007 and the licence plates '51' are from September 2001). I suspected there was more to the car other than just being a Volvo with some rally mods.
Whenever I see 'PY' and 'PX' on licence plates it always grabs my attention.
Same car as above again.
and others.
Malcolm Wilson has worked and raced for that matter on a lot of different cars though his main bread and butter at the moment is on Ford.
It's always nice to see stuff from my city doing it's stuff around the world. Two of the main ones at present are Malcolm Wilson with M-Sport and Eddie Stobart with road haulage (who also have a rally team (who Malcolm has driven for) and transport Pirelli tyres for Formula One).

Ah yeah, Stobart, I believe they are one of the most know transport company around Europe. Which is kind of weird, because you don't really see their strucks on mainland Europe.
The first time I saw those Volvo was on TV a couple years ago, thought it was so cool a rally team was using these cars for reconnaissance. I'm used to see weird reconnaissance vehicles in amateur rallying, but not pro.

It's quite sad but they have a massive fan club of spotters who collect the names, numbers and licence plates. Each truck has a different female name (except the Pirelli ones). They go out to Germany and Poland quite often and have a base in Belgium.
The best rally reconnaissance/safety vehicle I've ever seen was the Land Rover Freelander (also M-Sport). Which later became a thing.

There was also a quite few entered into various rallys.
Freelanders with 2.5 KV6 engines.
(bonus Defender 90 at the end of the second video)
